VIFA Visit Indonesia – Mr. Nguyen Dang Thien

On January 12, 2016, the Vietnam-Indonesia Friendship Association (VIFA) visited Indonesia to extend congratulations on the establishment of the Indonesia-Vietnam Friendship Association (IVFA). The visit was led by Mr. Nguyen Dang Thien, Chairman of VIFA. The primary purpose of this visit was to congratulate the IVFA, with Mr. Budiarsa Sastrawinata serving as its Chairman.

The delegation’s first stop was at the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Indonesia, where they met with Ambassador H.E. Hoang Anh Tuan. The next visit was to the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Mr. Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, at the Jakarta City Hall. The purpose of this visit was to exchange views on regulatory and traffic issues in both Jakarta and Hanoi. During this visit, the Governor invited the VIFA delegation to observe Jakarta’s smart city system, which was developed by DKI Jakarta. The system monitors daily traffic and government staff activities, helping to improve control over issues such as flooding and road cleanliness.

In Hanoi, a similar system is used to monitor traffic, utilizing radio communication to manage congestion effectively. The VIFA delegation learned that drivers in Hanoi listen to radio updates for real-time traffic information. The visit concluded with a dinner hosted by Mr. Budiarsa Sastrawinata, featuring traditional Indonesian cuisine at a restaurant serving rijstafel, a Dutch-era Indonesian dining experience.
