The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, H.E. Mr. To Lam, accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly, visited Indonesia from March 9 to 11, 2025, to commemorate 70 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Vietnam.

On March 9, 2025, H.E. Mr. To Lam attended a meeting with top Indonesian business leaders, including IVFA Chairman Mr. Budiarsa Sastrawinata. During the meeting, Mr. To Lam emphasized Vietnam’s commitment to encouraging Indonesian investors to expand their ventures in Vietnam.

Following the meeting, Mr. To Lam and his spouse, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly, accompanied by Mr. Budiarsa Sastrawinata and Mrs. Rina Ciputra Sastrawinata President Commissioner PT Ciputra Development Tbk, visited the Ciputra Artpreneur Museum to explore the renowned artworks of Hendra Gunawan.

Later that evening, the delegation attended a special concert by the Ha Noi Philharmonic Orchestra from Vietnam National Academy of Music in Ciputra Artpreneur, Jakarta. The event showcased the two nations’ deep cultural and historical bonds.

On March 10, 2025, the Ministry of Finance, the Embassy of Vietnam in Indonesia, IVFA, and Ciputra Group co-hosted a High-Level Business Dialogue at Raffles Hotel Jakarta. Under the theme “Vietnam and Indonesia: A Partnership for Progress and Prosperity,” the event brought together top government officials, business leaders, and stakeholders to discuss economic collaboration, investment opportunities, and strategic partnerships in key sectors such as artificial intelligence, the digital economy, green energy, electric vehicles, and the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).
Discussions also covered food security, the Halal industry, education, and maritime cooperation, reflecting the deepening ties between the two countries.

The Indonesia – Việt Nam Friendship Association (IVFA) proudly hosted a commemorative gathering celebrating the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and ViệtNam under the theme “Việt Nam and Indonesia: A Partnership for Progress and Prosperity.” Held on February 24, 2025, at the Raffles Hotel Jakarta, the event underscored the enduring bilateral ties and expanding cooperation across economic, cultural, educational, and sports sectors.

Bilateral trade between the two nations surged in 2024, reaching an estimated US$16 billion, reflecting a 16% increase and positioning both countries to achieve their US$18 billion target well before 2028. Investment flows also witnessed remarkable growth, with Vietnamese investment in Indonesia amounting to US$41.81 million, driven by key ventures such as VinFast’s EV ecosystem, including its Subang factory and Xanh SM electric taxi service launched in July and December, respectively. The gathering also spotlighted emerging areas of collaboration, including artificial intelligence, digital economy, green energy, EV ecosystems, and Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) initiatives. Other key focus areas included Halal industry development, food security, rice trade, education, and maritime cooperation.
