Warmest Greetings to all Indonesian and Vietnamese friends,
Dear Members of Indonesia-Vietnam Friendship Association,
This year, 2025, is a crucial year to Vietnam and Indonesia as we will celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties and 80th Independence Day in our respective country.
During the last seven decades, relations between Viet Nam and Indonesia have unceasingly grown given any circumstances, be at war or in peace. What have made our ties so strong and reliable partners? The traditional friendship between Vietnam and Indonesia is built on a solid foundation laid by President Ho Chi Minh and President Sukarno, and nurtured by the leaders and people of both countries from generation to generation.
Vietnam and Indonesia are two of the largest countries in Southeast Asia in terms of area and population. The two nations have many things in common in culture and history. Both are members of ASEAN, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, and many other regional and international organizations and forums. Our cooperation in all political, economic, trade, investment areas has strongly expanded. People-to-people exchanges increased substantially. The two-way trade kept growing rapidly and surpassed 16 billion USD last year. Businesses from both nations have increased investments in each other’s markets, especially in key sectors such as processing and manufacturing industries, hospitality services, trade, information technology and agriculture.
The relations between us have never stronger than this. Our two countries have established the Strategic Partnership. This is a highest level of cooperation framework between Vietnam and a foreign country. However, there remain vast potential to be tapped, especially in the economic, trade, investment, tourism, culture and people-to-people exchanges. I believe that businesses of the two sides and IVFA have an important role to play to translate the potentials into reality.
Since its inception in 2015, IVFA has actively worked and contributed to the deepening of friendship and cooperation between our two countries. This year, the Vietnamese Embassy in Jakarta will carry out various activities to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations under the Theme “Vietnam and Indonesia: 70 Years of Bonding Together as Natural Partners”. And I hope that IVFA will continue to participate in that line.
Stepping into the new era with a shared commitment of sustainable development, a unified pledge to achieve Net-zero by 2050 and a bold vision to become high income economies by 2045, we, as Natural Partners will continue side by side advance in a journey toward development and prosperity for both our peoples.
The Vietnamese Embassy will continue to focus on promoting economic, trade, and investment relations between the two countries, not only in traditional areas but also in emerging fields such as high technology, renewable energy, digital economy and green economy. And we are committed to working closely with Indonesia – Viet Nam Friendship Association to provide support for businesses and organizations for this purpose.
On the occasion of New Year, may I wish you all a year ahead full of happiness and successes.
May the Strategic Partnership between our two countries be ever-grown and consolidated!
