1. Since the establishment of Indonesia-Viet Nam diplomatic relations in 1955…
● Our friendship has transformed into collaboration and further into a strong partnership…
● Driven by shared aspirations, mutual respect, and strong commitment to progress…
2. 2024 in particular, has been a year of breakthroughs in our bilateral relations….
● Our total bilateral trade doubled in 5 years, reaching 16.7 billion USD in 2024… putting us on track of achieving our 18 billion USD target by 2028 even earlier….
● Investment between our countries has also reached new heights, with two-way foreign direct investment between Indonesia and Viet Nam in 2024 amounting to more 90 million USD
● Key projects such as Ciputra Group has become a pioneer for investment between both countries….
● Whilst Japfa Group’s Vaksindo animal vaccine factory and VinFast’s electric vehicle ecosystem has become prime examples of the potential and achievements made through our collaboration…
● And many more investment projects between our countries are underway.
3. Beyond the numbers, these economic collaborations reflect the bright future of Indonesiaand Viet Nam
● Which is collaboration centered on research and innovation, ecosystem development, and high-value added industries.
4. On people-to-people connectivity… interaction between our peoples continue to grow strong…
● Due to the ease of travelling between both countries
● And contributed by the availability of 112 direct flights per week between Indonesia and Viet Nam.
● These have increased two-way tourism.
5. These achievements are made, through efforts of all stakeholders…
● The government… the businesses… universities/research institutions… and the people…
6. As we look towards 2025 and beyond, I am confident that our collaboration will continue to strengthen….
● As we work towards the elevation of our partnership into Comprehensive Strategic Partnership…
● And as we strive to become high-income nations by 2045…
7. I believe several key areas will define our cooperation:
(1) Strengthening regional EV ecosystems and promoting clean energytransition…
(2) Expanding collaboration in technology, research, and innovation, such asAI, semiconductors, and digital transformation…
(3) Advancing cooperation in strengthening food security, including high quality agriculture and sustainable fisheries industries…
Ladies and gentlemen,
8. Indonesia-Viet Nam partnership must go beyond just “strong trading partners”….
● And focus into leveraging each country’s strengths..
● To build a collaborative, high-added value, and sustainable regional supply chain.
9. By working together and complementing each other’s strengths we can create a regional economic ecosystem…that is more resilient, inclusive, and beneficial for all.
10. Hence I appreciate the initiatives and efforts made by the Indonesia Viet Nam Friendship Association… led by the Chairman, my close friend Mr. Budiarsa Sastrawinata and his team….
● The Indonesia Viet Nam Friendship Association has become a platform to strengthen people-to-people ties, facilitate business, and promote collaboration.
